WEEK 1 (August 25-29): This week, I suggest you "pre-read" Chapter 1. Pre-reading is 'skimming' the chapter so you are aware of what we will be covering this week. Keep in mind, many of these skills in chapter 1 are considered 'basic'. It you don't agree with me, you MUST spend more time on them and get assistance next week! WEEK 2 (Sept 2-5): -Read Chapter 1 HERE'S the link to the phthalate video that we watch in class. Not
required to know this but it's interesting nonetheless! -If you haven't already, read and work through in-chapter problems in Chapter
2 -Check the MasteringChemistry for the "Chapter 2" assignment -Some of the Mastering Chemistry questions for the "Chapter 2" assignment will come directly from
the end-of-chapter problems. You may want to work on these prior to
logging on to do your homework. These questions are: 2.56, 2.64,
2.78, 2.80, 2.83, 2.88, 2.106 (extra credit), and 2.25 -This is the 'cute' 13 minute that I've been trying to show in class....please watch it! http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3313/02.html
-Read Chapter 3; You may skip the sections on "Naming Acids", "Naming binary acids", and "Naming OxyAcids"; You may skip the section on "Combustion Analysis, page 112-113; you may skip section 3.11 on Organic Compounds -Check the MasteringChemistry for the "Chapter 3" assignment -Some of the Mastering Chemistry questions for the "Chapter 3"

WEEK 5 (Sept 22-26): -Read Chapter 4 (skip the section on gas-evolution reactions (page 165-166)
and combustion reactions (page 173-174).
WEEK 6 (Sept 29 - Oct 3): -By Friday, Oct 3...Complete all your reading of this chapter (Read Chapter 4 (skip the section on gas-evolution reactions (page 165-166) and combustion reactions (page 173-174).) -Check the MasteringChemistry for the "Chapter 4" assignment -Some of the Mastering Chemistry questions for the "Chapter 4"

WEEK 10 (Oct 27- Oct 31): -Pre Read all of Chapter 6 -Start "Chapter 6" assignment (Due SUNDAY, November 9 by 9 pm)
WEEK 11 (Nov 3- Nov 7): -Finish "Chapter 6" assignment (Due SUNDAY, November 9 by 9 pm)

WEEK 14 (Nov 23): Read all of Chapter 8 WEEK 15 (Dec 1-5): Complete Chapter 8 reading and LAST Mastering Chemistry Assignment by Dec 7th 9pm
