Viruses · Describe
the etiology, pathogenesis and pathophysiology of
HIV infection
· Explain
how antimicrobial agents work and how resistance can occur Immunology
· Define
active and passive immunity and understand the different designs used for vaccine
manufacture
· Define
hypersensitivity reactions I and IV identifying several major mediators and
their function including histamine, leukotrienes and prostaglandins
· Describe
how autoimmune disease is believed to occur and explain the pathogenesis of Hashimotos
thyroiditis, Graves Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Pernicious Anemia,
IDDM, ITP, Goodpastures syndrome, RA and SLE. |
