T451 Weave I                                                   4 hrs lec & 2 hrs lab / week = 4 credits

The structures and analysis of woven fabrics are studied using CAD, pick outs and laboratory assignments on industrial equipment.  Weave structures will include plain, twills and satins (with their derivations), color effects, textural effects (bedford cord, piques, etc.), and pile weaves.  Fabric is mathematically analyzed for weight, yarn size, fabric count, yarn crimp.  Calculations for amount yarn per yard fabric include plaids and crowded densities. Necessary loom controls (draw, chains and reed plans) are included.

Prerequisites: L130/L131 Finite Mathematics or L141 Intro to Calculus; T301 Yarn Engineering
