Country Background Information

The Library has a variety of data bases which are useful for conducting research for this and the other assignments in Contemporary Perspectives.  A particularly useful set of data bases, organized under the heading "Country Studies," is located at this link.

 

International News

One of the best sources for news of all kinds, including background information and links, is CNN.com.  It covers virtually every news story in great depth, and is well worth checking out.

News 101 -- Additional links to newspapers (use the "Media List").

The Paperboy -- Links to papers from around the world on-line.

NewsLink -- Well-designed, easy to use links to English language papers world-wide.

 

Selected Newspapers from Specific Countries & Regions

Europe -- BBC World Service is a VERY good choice.

Middle East -- The Jerusalem Post is recognized as one of the best news sites on the Net. (Also check out my Links on my Middle East Links Page.)

Japan/Southeast Asia -- A good choice is Asahi Shimbun.

Russia/Former U.S.S.R. -- Two are accessible from this link, the St. Petersburg Times, and The Moscow Times. 

Austalia/South Pacific -- A good choice is The Age.

 

Western/American Newspapers

The New York Times -- Free, on line

The Washington Post -- Free, on line

Wall Street Journal -- Free, on line
