Ecological Design and Technology


Capstone Document Requirements:

Title page with Project Title (See attached for information required on title page)

Capstone Statement and Intent ( a paragraph that states the specific topic or concern of your project, why you are interested in it, what value you think the investigation has to (an aspect of ) architecture, and what your intended results are for the project.

Table of Contents

Topic Paper
This paper will be approximately four pages and will elaborate on the theoretical construct. It should include the following:
· Purpose of study
· Discuss the concept and the issues addressed
· Scope of study/project
· Explain the methodology for the study. In other words, explain the relationship of the concept/research to the design process. (or what is your attitude to the topic?)
· Essentially, this essay is a development and support of your capstone statement. It may include topic research, precedents, proposed design strategies, primary design considerations and a conclusion that summarizes your position, including analysis and critique of research and a restated topic and goals.

· Remember to cite your outside sources – footnotes and illustration credits.

Program Development - quantitative and qualitative
· Assessment of client/user needs
· Definition and Intention of Spaces
· Functional and Programmatic Requirements, including:
Description of Spaces
Space / size requirements - Square footages
Description and diagram of spatial / functional relationships
· Specific Equipment requirements

Building Codes and Zoning Ordinances – including an assessment of implications for program and project.

Site Analysis
· Environmental / Context Analysis
· Summary of site concerns
· Site Model
· Remember to cite your outside sources – footnotes and illustration credits.

Ecological Technology Research and Constructs
· Remember to cite your outside sources – footnotes and illustration credits.

Case studies related to:
· program
· site considerations
· Remember to cite your outside sources – footnotes and illustration credits.

Reproductions of Design Project (This should include the final presentation, including all drawings and models, physical and virtual, as well as and any relevant process work.)

Statement of Results - analysis or critique of your completed project. Summarized assessment of intentions, results, realizations, potential for further development of idea, what you’ve learned….

Bibliography and Image Credits - Footnotes/endnotes and credited illustrations required.

 

Remember to leave a minimum 1" margin for binding.
Please submit digital files and (3) 8 1/2 X 11color copies. Foldouts are permitted.
Due date: noon, Friday, May 10, 2002. (This is to ensure submitting your grade on time for graduation.)
