Dipity Dipity is a timeline tool that is web-based, free, and collaborative. Each point on the timeline can include text, images, and streamed video. It’s easy to use and produces interactive timelines. You can also search stored timelines.

Mnemograph Interactive timeline application. You can "grab" the timeline and drag it left and right, and zoom in and out to view centuries at a time or just hours. Mnemograph allows you to create event-spans so that you can see durations and how they overlap. Being web-based, Mnemograph lets you collaborate and share easily.

Ask Dave Taylor Dave Taylor covers a lot of territory, answering questions about iPhones, Facebook, Unix, Limewire, HTML, blogs, CSS, building websites, Mac OS, and even "D) None of the Above." Site search is located in the right-hand menu, where there is also a listing of popular articles, a category listing, and a big red Ask Dave button. When you get to the Ask Dave page, you have three choices: search his site, post your question at a for-a-fee site endorsed by Dave, or scroll all the way down the page to send Dave a question for free (as long as you don't check the "Help! I need immediate assistance" button, which is fee-based.)

Ask Leo Leo Notenboom is a retired Microsoft software engineer who has been answering tech questions online since 2003. Best way to find an answer is to use the search function (scroll down the front page to see it.) Popular and recent answers are listed in the right-hand column, or peruse answers listed by category (look for the Categories link near the bottom of the page.) Although Leo does cover a variety of Apple topics, and many questions are applicable to all platforms, he fields a lot of Microsoft, Hotmail and Windows questions.

Jake Ludington's Digital Lifestyle Jake Ludington is a multimedia expert, and answers questions about digital video and podcasting, as well as computer productivity tools, Macs, iPhones, and social media such as blogging and Facebook. His "Ask a Question" form is easy to find (in the upper left-hand corner of every page), as is his site search (upper right-hand corner.) Many of his tutorials include video.

Mac Most "Get the most from your Mac, iPhone, iPod and Apple TV" with Gary Rosenzweig's huge library of how-to videos, podcasts, and articles. Gary is a computer book author, computer game programmer, and producer and host of the MacMost video series. With more than 550 video episodes on topics such as security, connectivity, backing up and GarageBand, you are very likely to find the Mac answers you need. In addition to using the site search to find your answer, be sure to check out the MacMost forum where you can ask your own question, or help other visitors by answering their questions.

Since the format of this review only allows me to display one URL, I chose the Word Tips site for versions 2007 and later (also known as Ribbon Interface Word.) iCyte Clunky, disorganized bookmarks can only handle a certain amount of online information before they become unruly and difficult to sift through. Likewise, copy/paste doesn't save formatting, is difficult to organize, and is harder to link back to the original website for easy reference. Users can highlight the information he or she would like to save and click the iCyte icon on the browser toolbar. Then, the data can be categorized into different projects designated by the user. Tags and notes can be added for further categorization, creating a searchable database.

Screencast-o-Matic This one actually allows you to create video recordings all from your browser. Like all other great web apps, this is in beta, but it’s got potential that’s for sure.

MWSnap MWSnap is a small yet powerful Windows program for snapping (capturing) images from selected parts of the screen. It is capable of capturing the whole desktop, a highlighted window, an active menu, a control, or a fixed or free rectangular part of the screen.

Dragnifier Windows download to magnify a specific section of a presentation, Web page, or article.

Clipmarks Clip and save just the stuff you want from any web page. Create your personal online collection of clipmarks. Tag them with keywords, add your own comments and share

Scribd A useful Web 2.0 online application which allows you to upload a file in common formats (i.e. PPT, DOC, TXT, XLS, etc.) and an Adobe Flash Paper version is created in a player. Verbling is a new site designed to match people who are willing to help each other learn a new language. For now the site only supports English and Spanish, but it appears that they have plans to expand their offerings in the future. Verbling matches native speakers of a language with people who want to learn that language. Then at the appointed meeting times the two people get together to have a live conversation using one of the suggested conversation starters.
