Contemporary Perspectives is a course that encourages students to draw connections between the various disciplines and bodies of knowledge that they have mastered during their studies at Philadelphia University. The seminar paper assignment gives our seniors an opportunity to examine how global trends and issues are interacting with and transforming the career field that they are about to enter. In order to promote and celebrate this process of integrated learning and thinking, the Contemporary Perspectives faculty have created the Liberal-Professional Scholarship Award, given each semester to the best seminar papers from students in each of our four professional Schools: Architecture and Design, Business Administration, Science and Health, and Textiles and Materials Technology.
At the end of the semester, each Contemporary Perspectives instructor submits the best seminar projects from their classes for consideration. A panel of Philadelphia University faculty members, representing both the General Studies programs and each of the professional Schools, meet to read and evaluate the nominated projects, and to award the Liberal-Professional Scholarship Award (along with a $50 gift certificates from Border’s Books and Music) to best project from each of our four Schools.
The four winning projects will be posted on the Contemporary Perspectives web site as a showcase for our students’ accomplishments and as models for future Contemporary Perspectives students.
