Harvey B. Lermack

Assistant Professor of Management

Philadelphia University

Harvey Lermack is Assistant Professor of Management at Philadelphia University, where his coursework and research specialties include strategic planning and business policy, enterprise risk management, leadership development, and organizational behavior.  He has been a member of the faculty for over 30 years, previously as an adjunct and currently as a full-time instructor.

Mr. Lermack was previously Training Director and Risk Management Director at Conrail, a freight railroad in Philadelphia, where he spearheaded work force processes and training in risk management, environmental health and safety, new employee orientation, technical training, and behavioral safety.  He also initiated total quality environmental management programs across the company, including training, reporting and communications.  He received Lakewood Publications’ 1997 award as “Outstanding Performer in Training.”

His current research focuses on identifying and implementing methods to integrate strategic planning, enterprise risk management, and leadership to improve the overall effectiveness of organizations.

In addition to his work at Philadelphia University, he consults to companies from various industries in the areas of enterprise risk management, leadership, and strategy.  He is also a frequent speaker and author on enterprise risk management, leadership and other organizational issues.

While at Philadelphia University, Harvey has led International Business program visits to corporate and European Union offices across Europe, including London, England; Paris, France; Brussels, Belgium; Warsaw, Poland; and Prague, Czech Republic.

Harvey received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Pennsylvania State University, and an MBA from Widener University. 

He was elected an honorary member of Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration, is a past board member of the National Environmental Training Association, and is a member and past Education Committee member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS).
