SAMPLE SPEC SHEET
Produce a front and back flat mechanical drawing indicating all finished
specs. List specs, if measurements are not flat but on the round or circumference
make a notation. Attach fabric swatch with fiber content and quality. Indicate
all trim specs.
CUTTERS MUST
Fill in all appropriate information: style#, sample size, fabric width, yardage
yield. List all pattern pieces to be cut i.e. one actual sleeve pattern
but "2 SLEEVES" will be listed, including self (written in black),
lining (written in blue), and fusible (written in red) along with construction
specifications. Attach a copy of the front and back flat drawing.
COST SHEET
Fill in all appropriate information. Include yardage yield for all fabric
(self, contrasting, lining, fusible), all linear trims such as cording,
braiding, bindings, zippers, buttons etc. Attach a copy of the flats.
PATTERNS
Include style#, size, pattern piece, quantity to cut (circled). If lining
and the fusible is the same pattern piece, indicate in blue and red accordingly.
Attach a copy of the flats.
PORTFOLIO
Ten (10) illustrations, three (3) of which, will be the executed garments,
shall be prepared and presented in an interview appropriate portfolio.
Drawings are to be in full color, fronts and backs included for all 10.
Include flats.
RESEARCH PAPER
A 2-3 page typed, double -spaced report is to include your target market,
end use category, research findings, color and silhouette selection, with
estimated price point (budget to couture), marketing strategy and personal
design philosophy. This is to be written as a newspaper article, with you
assuming the role of the writer (third person).
SELF ASSESMENT
On a separate paper, evaluate and discuss your feelings concerning your work
and development throughout this course. The journal entries should be valuable
for this assignment.
