Dr. Fernando Tovia is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering and Textiles at Philadelphia University. Prior to his current position, he spent 21 years working in the Textile Industry in Mexico both as a General Manager and a consultant working on strategic planning, supply chain management and manufacturing systems. Dr. Tovia received his B.S.I.E from the Universidad de las Americas (Mexico), his M.S.I.E. from Oklahoma State University and his Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Tovia joined Philadelphia University in 2004. He is a recipient of the Lindback Minority Junior Faculty Award in 2005, and the Best Conference Award Paper from The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation (UK) in 2006. Dr Tovia’s teaching and research interests include statistics, simulation, supply chain modeling, service parts logistics, emergency logistics, textile applied research, and applications of chemically activated fly ash based materials. Professor Tovia has published in the International Journal of Logistics Research and Applications, The International Journal of Operations Research, IEEE Transactions, the Journal of Industrial Textiles, and the Journal of Solid Waste and Technology Management. He has received research funding from the National Science Foundation, the National Textile Center, the Lindback Foundation, and private companies.
